Born in Chicago, David Clason spent the first 25 years of his life in Europe, where he received an Associate of Arts degree from Fleming College in Florence, Italy. His interest in, and passion for sculpting took shape while attending the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. A year of study in sculptural design followed at the Sir John Cass School of Art at London’s Metropolitan University, and an apprenticeship at Brandimarte in Florence, further refined his silversmithing skills, including the art of repoussé.
An artistic career spanning over 30 years has brought a mastery of many skills, wax carving, the process of lost wax, mold making and casting, soldering and fabrication. Decades of experience designing and creating fine jewelry is reflected in the intense level of detail that is the hallmark of every piece of David Clason’s sculpture. The art of silversmithing is brought to stunning life in his beautifully intricate work. From the initial design inspiration, through days of wax carving, fabrication and polishing every unique piece is created entirely by the artist. David Clason lives in Colorado’s Vail Valley with his wife Justina, son Wes and their dog Leo.
